Structural Engineer

London, ON


IE Design is looking for a Professional Structural Engineer to join our London office and work with our team. The potential candidate will work on the design of residential/commercial/industrial/institutional projects, help with technology advancement through using state-of-the-art technology, perform site reviews to compile information for upcoming/future projects, and complete general reviews/inspections for projects under construction.


Skills/Qualifications


  • Graduate of engineering school (structural and/or civil) 
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) 
  •  5 to 10+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering and construction execution
  • Expertise of analyses and design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood buildings
  • REVIT experience in structural engineering and relevant site experience is an asset 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and multitasking
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Building Code and construction systems 
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Knowledge of concrete and steel buildings and high-rise building construction and drafting
  • Independent, self-motivated, and self-learning
  • Willingness to learn state-of-the-art related technologies and work on professional and personal growth


Key Responsibilities


  • Analysis, design, and evaluation of concrete, steel, wood, and masonry buildings
  • Ensure construction plans and specifications meet the guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations. Familiarity with parts 4 and 9 of the Ontario Building Code is required.
  • Site investigation and evaluation of existing building structures and writing field reports, and reviewing shop drawings
  • Lead project team environment from the preliminary stages of the design through to completion
  • Perform site reviews to compile information for upcoming projects and complete general reviews/inspections for projects under construction. A vehicle will be required for site visits to job sites.
  • Help with technology advances and learning new technologies and state-of-the-art software
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and clients throughout all phases
  • Support integration of new technology and advanced design tools into workflow
  • Represent IE Design and Creative Structures in client-facing meetings

Light Gauge Steel (LGS) Structural Design Engineer

London, ON


IE Design is looking for an Experienced Light Gauge Steel (LGS) Structural Design Engineer with Extensive experience in Project Management of LGS Residential and Commercial Projects to Join our London Office and work with our Team. 


Skills/Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering 
  • Construction Engineering & Project Management is considered a strong asset 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering, project management, and construction execution
  • Extensive experience in Light Gauge Steel (LGS) / Cold-Formed Steel systems
  • Strong experience in steel structures, modular construction, BIM coordination, and multidisciplinary project delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and multitasking
  • Willingness to learn state-of-the-art related technologies and work on professional and personal growth


Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare structural engineering designs, calculations, and detailed construction drawings for Light Gauge Steel (LGS) and steel structure projects
  • Develop and review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and BIM models using Tekla Structures and Revit
  • Perform structural analysis and connection design for cold-formed steel, composite structures, and reinforced concrete systems
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and site teams throughout all project phases
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering and BIM coordination meetings
  • Review structural drawings for constructability, code compliance, and fabrication accuracy
  • Prepare BOQs, material take-offs, technical reports, specifications, and construction documentation
  • Manage project schedules, cost estimates, procurement coordination, and construction planning activities
  • Conduct on-site inspections and supervise installation activities for LGS and steel framing systems
  • Support modular and prefabricated construction workflows through BIM-integrated coordination
  • Monitor fabrication and installation quality to ensure compliance with international standards and project requirements
  • Mentor junior engineers, BIM modelers, and technical staff

IE Design is looking for an Intermediate Structural Drafter/Designer to Join our London Office and work with our Team. The potential candidate will develop BIM Models and prepare the REVIT drafting of Residential/Commercial/Industrial/Institutional projects, perform site reviews to compile information for upcoming/future projects, and complete general reviews/inspections for projects under construction.


Skills/Qualifications


  • Graduate of structural/architectural university and/or architectural technology program
  • Proficient in drafting using REVIT is a must
  • Minimum experience of 2–3 years in structural engineering drawings
  • Strong REVIT experience in structural engineering and relevant site experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and multitasking
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Strong knowledge of concrete and steel buildings and high-rise building construction
  • Willingness to learn state-of-the-art related technologies and work on professional and personal growth


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop BIM and REVIT Models for Structural Projects
  • Prepare drawings, with high attention to detail, through preliminary systems layouts, coordination sets, permit sets, and final working drawings
  • Perform site visits and complete general reviews for projects under construction under the Supervision of Professional Engineer
  • Review shop drawings and compile information for future projects
