Intelligent Engineering Design Ltd. (IE Design) is an independent engineering firm offering structural engineering professional services. Through our designs, we make a significant difference in the world by making our buildings evolve from passive structures into adaptive, responsive, and Intelligent systems.
We are an innovative structural engineering firm that strives to provide innovative, state-of-the-art, economical service to every client, regardless of the complexity, scale, or type of projects. We have worked on many Commercial, Industrial, and Mid and High-rise buildings over the past 16 years, nationally and internationally with more than 40 years of combined experience. We analyzed and designed buildings from 1-storey heavy industrial buildings to 65-storeys high-rise buildings.
We believe that our experience, dedication, professionalizem and commitment to team work will be an asset to your project team.
About IE Design
Mahdy A. Hamada, Ph.D., P.Eng., BIM, M.ASCE, M.CSCE, is the founder and president of IE Design, located in London, Canada. Mahdy holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Masters of Engineering Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The University of Western Ontario, Canada. He has over than 16 years of national/international experience in consulting, teaching, and research in structure engineering analysis and design. He consulted on major projects in Canada, USA, Middle-East, and Far-East. In addition, Mahdy is an Adjunct Research Professor and Assistant Professor LDA at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Western Ontario, Canada – teaching Structural Analysis of Tall-Buildings, Design of Lateral Load Structural Systems, and Advanced Analysis and Design of Steel courses.
Mahdy research interest is in the areas of Structural and Wind Engineering, Fluid-Structure Interaction, Heavy Timber and Light-Framed Wood Structures, Artificial Intelligence in Structural Engineering. Mahdy scientific research work includes investigating the behaviour, resilience, and performance based design of transmission line system under high intensity wind loads, the performance of irregular shaped high and mid-rise buildings under seismic and wind loads, the performance of mid-rise light frame wood buildings under lateral loads, the performance based design of high-rise buildings under high intensity wind events, and the performance of barrier structures to minimize the blast loads on strategic buildings.
Mahdy is a member of the Future Leader Committee of Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). He is a corresponding member of the task committee on Electrical Transmission Line Structural Loading responsible for updating the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Manual of Practice #74, Guidelines for Electrical Transmission Line Structural Loading.
